Under a Cloud - Backstage Hope Theatre, University of Wollongong - 2012

Under a Cloud was a two-year project that was part of Kim’s Research Masters in Creative Arts. This work came out of a solo journey, following the entire length of the Darling River in western New South Wales, towards the end of a long period of drought. Kim’s journey followed the Darling River to its confluence with the Murray River, then continued on to where the Murray River flows out to the sea in South Australia. Along the way, Kim interviewed many people about life on the river, about drought and flood. This installation lets the river speak for itself - it is a time-based work, evoking the cycle of day and night through looped lighting, video and sounds recorded on the river. Suspended clouds rain slowly into vessels, while birds and frogs chirp, and video images of the river are projected into a large dish of water.
